All About: Glamping

Glamping is a combination of camping and luxury accommodation.  It is a way to experience nature whilst not having to sacrifice your creature comforts!  The way we travel is changing.  We no longer want to have generic; one size fits all holidays.  Instead, we want to be able to fully immerse ourselves in our environment.  A fusion of luxury and camping (glamping) is a great way to experience the natural world in style. Glamping tents offer the luxury of a lodge with the added adventure of sleeping under canvas!

Sleeping

Many people like the idea of getting back to nature, going off camping in a tent and whiling away the hours with minimal to no technology, however lots of us do not like the thought of having to put up with lower comfort levels!  Most people hear camping and think of sleeping on a cold, damp floor in a sleeping bag, with insects buzzing around constantly.  Glamping does not need to be like this at all!

Glamping usually involves a large tent or tipi which often features multiple rooms or sections.  There is usually a full size bed, electricity, and heating.  When it comes to technology, glamping usually has access to wifi and phone signal so you can always stay in the loop. There may even be a TV and games console to enjoy when you are not out and about. Most glamping tents have enough room to house many more people than normal tents, so you can easily accommodate a whole family comfortably in one glamping pod.  There is usually a solid floor installed in the glamping tent, so you won’t have any issues with dirt or grass coming into your tent.  This also means that wet weather is less of an issue!

Food and Cooking

Traditional camping often has you crouched around a camp fire or camping grill attempting to cook your dinner.  With glamping stays, you can expect a little more luxury, with proper ovens and stoves to prepare your meals. You can absolutely still enjoy a marshmallow over the fire too!  When it comes to eating your food, most glamping tents have enough room for a full size table and chairs, so you won’t need to worry about squatting on the floor to enjoy your meals.

Finding a Glamping Site

Lots of normal campsites are now starting to open up for the glamping market, offering luxurious accommodation on their sites.  Many glamping pitches have access to further facilities such as hot tubs or jacuzzi pools too.  The best way to find a glamping area is to search online using the location you want to travel to.  You will be surprised by the number of options available to you when you want to get back to nature but in a more glamorous way!
